Take a quick preview of the course for the 2015 Blue Sky Cup.

This is an all new course on the Oskar Blues Hops & Heifers Farm.

If you’ve ridden here before, this won’t be like your previous experience, this is an all new course, featuring fast and flowy lines, minimal ditch crossings, some power climbs, a slalom section, a short run-up and maybe some barriers. Don’t miss out on this awesome new venue that is sure to become a new colorado cross favorite!

Check out the 2017 to be held at Dry Creek Community Park in Longmont. It features a lung busting run-up, technical descents, off-camber, ditch crossings and a hard climb. It is sure not to disappoint. Don’t miss this one folks… If you raced last year, you know this is a great course, but we’re adding a few more twists, turns and off-cambers to keep things exciting.blus-sky-cup-2016-course

Thanks to all of you that made it out for the TTT practice this past Saturday.  Our day started with me, Nick, Jason and Nathan rolling out of Vic’s and getting a good warm-up heading to the start-line. There we met up with Sam and Eric and went over the details of the first half of the course.  It took us a little bit but we got our rotation flowing pretty smoothly and cruised up Route 36 and went flying down Nelson. At 76th we took a break to talk about the second half of the course and were joined by Doug, Craig and Jose.  From there we tackled the rollers of 76th and the slow grind of Neva into a gusty wind. Four of us hadn’t had enough so we took on a second lap and really settled into things.  I think we all got a good workout.

Teammates showed up on a mix of TT and road bikes so if you don’t have a TT rig this should not stop you from joining us next time.

Keep your eye open for Wednesday after work TT practice starting on the 13th of March. The sun stays up until 7 pm so we should wrap up by then.  Let me know how early you could start riding? Also let me know, if you prefer to meet at Vic’s or some other location.   If you didn’t get a chance to join us this past Saturday but still want to get some time trialing in this spring keep an eye open for further announcements.

Hi BSV friends and family,
The kit ordering details have been finalized and Pearl Izumi’s website is now open for BSV orders!
You can order as many clothing pieces as you like, but all members must order at least one current jersey. If you already have one from last year, you can order a different upper body piece ( ie, vest, jacket, l/s jersey).  We want to make sure we represent our current sponsors well, by making sure everyone has current Blue Sky Velo kit pieces!
Here’s your link to place your clothing order: (Window closes on Feb. 14th)
If you’be been thinking of joining Blue Sky (or haven’t re-upped for 2013), please do so NOW! Fees are only $40.  You won’t find a better cycling club bargain anywhere! Here’s your link to sign up:

It was Friday afternoon when the Blue Sky Velo email came out saying the Saturday morning road ride was cancelled due to the weather, and then another email from the Plank leaders announcing the BSV social ride was off too because it was too cold and might be unsafe. I was thinking the forecasted 5 degrees might be on the chilly side, but fresh snow ALWAYS calls for a cyclocross ride. Must be time to see if there is anyone else willing to try a Saturday morning Arctic ride.

Hi fellow BSV-tri members!

I just wanted to write a race report for my first-ever iron-distance tri, last weekend’s
PPD Beach to Battleship in Wilmington, NC.

Overview:
In my opinion, this event has a fantastic location and was probably the best experience of all my triathlons due to energetic volunteers everywhere and supportive fans. On top of that I loved the small downtown metro, great beach/water, excellent roads, etc.

Perhaps we got super lucky with weather, but it was the most perfect day in so many respects and I finished in 10:26:37.  Broken down, I had a 52:04 swim, 5:27:40 bike and 3:53:56 run plus approximately 6 min. each for T1 and T2.  That put me in 30th place overall (650 total), and 5th M40-44 to cross finish, but technically a SECOND PLACE age group finish because of the roll-down of awards as others in age group place top-5 overall. Every aspect of my day was essentially perfect!
